Project Goals:


  • To introduce teachers to the mentoring program and establish a continuous teacher mentoring cycle in the use of 21st century skills and digital technologies.
  • To explore the distinctives of digital learners.
  • To engage teachers in emerging digital technologies available that support professional, personal and classroom learning in the 21st Century.
  • To prepare teachers to become expert voices/mentors within our school and to expand their own learning communities outside our walls.
  • To engage administrators to recognize and assess the natural integration of technology into the current school curriculum and lesson plans.

Planning Phase: January – June 2009
  • PLP Team designs the training modules (March - April)
  • PLP Team creates WIKI, the project toolbox (__www.tkcstemp.pbwiki.com__)
  • PLP Team presents informational "hook" during a faculty meeting (May)
  • Mentor Team members selected by PLP team (June)
  • Mentor team will be made up of faculty members who are comfortable with the use of technology and are willing to explore and administrators.
    • Selection of team based on self-assessment and on prior knowledge
    • Upon selection, team members will be given access to the virtual classroom and homework to complete over the summer
  • PLP Team stocks the "Virtual Classroom" (__http://tkcsbb.ning.com/__)
    • Mentor team joins Ning and follows information throughout the summer
    • Reading to include downloadable handouts by Ian Jukes
    • Videos
    • PLP Team adds forums and discussions modeling the ADVIS Ning.
  • PLP Team initiates a forum for public presentation, "The TKCS Learning Table" (__http://tkcs.pbwiki.com/__) .

Phase 1: September 2009 - June 2010
6 sessions beginning in September to train team in technologies and develop other training ideas

  • Session1: 21st Century Teaching and Learning (September 2009)
  • Session 2: Navigating the Information Superhighway (October 2009)
  • Session 3: Wikis, Nings and Blogs, OH MY! (November 2009)
  • Session 4: Social Networking and Education (January 2010)
  • Session 5: A "What? cast": Media Production Tools (February 2010)
  • Session 6: Now What: Where do we go from here (March 2010)

Phase 2: September 2010 - June 2011
  • Mentor team sets up and stocks new virtual classroom
  • Mentor team members will be assigned 3 faculty members
  • Each mentor will take his / her team through the 6 training sessions
  • PLP members will stay involved as "Expert Voices" to assist each group
  • Administrators will develop and imiplement new assessment tool which reflects digital integration
